New Nightfall effects toggle
I just was talking to a guildie of mine about the new "green screen" effect that poison will have on your character in Nightfall. I would like to suggest that since Guild Wars has some pretty awesome customize options that the devs please include a toggle to display conditions traditionally (as they are now) instead of changing the color of the screen. It's just not an effect that appeals to me, more or less it seems like a feature for people who don't know how to observe their conditions.
Now personally I like the new way that damage and heals are displayed but I would also like to see a toggle for those if not included.
Anyway, just an idea I was kicking around.

I think like the drunk effect, you have to have the graphics settings above a certain mark for this even to show up. But I'd still like a toggle.
I think it looks stupid in my opinion. And makes me hope there are very few things that will poison me in Nightfall. Or I'm going to make all my characters /Mo just to remove it as soon as it pops up. Bleeding better not make my screen turn red either...

Turn off post-processing and you disable any such effects, including drunkenness.

Not sure how I will handle a compeletely green screen every time I poisned.. and I don't want to turn off post processing just to kill it and take a graphics visual hit.
Please add a toggle if you go thorught with this Anet. Even if it's a simple disable all "full screen" effects, posion, drunk, holiday alchool, etc.
Lions Arch swamp region would become a great don't go there unless you really have to.

We don't know exactly how it will work yet. Let's leave the nightfall suggestions to the side until we actually get it and see what it does in full context?

Well the effect in the videos and screenshots are pretty self explaintory. You get poisoned and your screen turns green.
I don't exactly like the idea of having to disable something in my graphical settings which may also hurt the graphics of things I might WANT to look at. Toggle ftw.

They are working on it now. If we say something now, it can be in there by or around release. If we complain about it as soon as it comes out, then we'll all be complaining about it for weeks if not months waiting for it to be changed.

And you may be complaining about something that doesn't need it. Maybe it already has the toggle on it? There is a point, and I would bet that we are past it, where it doesn't matter what we complain about because the CD build is going to be fixed, and ready to go to the factories kiting.
The only way they would have something for a "fix" is a download upon release. Again, I just think it is silly to complain about something that isn't even in "production" yet. We don't know the full mechanics of how it works, or what they have put in place to eliminate it or change it if anything.
Complain on day 1 or during a pve preview event (if there is one), but just be fair to them and don't complain about something that isn't fuly public when we don't have the whole story.

yeah everyone needs to chill man...
the guy from wolf-gaming (the reviewer at GWFC) said he thinks it might just a Monster Skill effect, or an Environment Effect from poisonous water. He said he has no way of knowing based on the limited access they had to the game (ie one mission)
Personally, i dont care either way- I think the effect looks nice, and is somewhat more realistic than just a green health bar.

I don't like the new damage style (it is like a fighting game), the green screen effect (like a FPS), or how some aspects of the UI have changed since the original release (Factions making things darker, black backgrounds of windows, etc).
Know what I'm REAL annoyed at? I feel that ANet is making the game TOO user friendly. Weapons, for example. "Requires X <attribute>". May just be a nitpick of mine, but Guild Wars is based on teamwork and mature people. Those who don't meet the criteria shouldn't even be playing, so I don't see why they bother making it so user-friendly, with the oversized damage counter font, the green screen, and other things, when any half-decent player can monitor conditions and such without these improvements (if you can even call them that).
So, yeah. I think this is a good idea to make more versatile settings, and perhaps even a dropdown menu to change interface skin (the golden skillbar border used in beta pwnz joo)?

If this is a case of always poison, then they would have one for each of the different types right? Poison and Disease turn you green. What about other conditions such as bleeding, deep wound, crippled and dazed?
What about hexes? Will your screen go pink?
I don't know any of this information but I am going to demand that they change it! /sarcasm

It is not a matter of dumbing down or hand holding. They are trying to stay on the edge of what is available due to technology advances. If they didn't periodically do these updates, the next new MMO/CO would come out and looks a bit slicker. Then you look at guildwars in comparison and say "hey this looks good, but a bit dated. Now THIS new games has some pretty cool effects. I think I'll go play that" Don't underestimate the attention span of people to be attracted to something just because it is slightly shiny.
